Hi guys,

I have a Firebird I question re: the output jack. I have converted a japanese FB III into a FB I but since the output jack is now in the FB I position, the jack is too long and is peeking out of the electric cavity and I can't put the lid on.

How was this solved on the originalk FB I (I've never had one in my hands)? Did they use shorter jacks (can't really be because the jack needs a certain length, right?)?

Anyone?
THANK YOU!

Well since its Japanese I guess its not a Gibson Firebird so that would explain your problem. All 1/4" jack sockets are the same or else you could not use a 1/4" male jack. Your body is probably to thin to accomodate the top mounted socket.

Depending on how much the jack is "sticking out" thru the control cavity you could shim up the jack on the guitars surface (extra washers or maybe even a poker chip) so you could get the cavity cover screwed on??

That jack is a PITA to find for a FB cavity.

I just counterbore the backside of my Banshee's to accommodate a normal Switchcraft jack.

just throw a nut on the jack all the way down, then push it through and put the dress washer and another nut on.

ive had to do it on many a guitar.

he's talking about the jack is to long and pocking out the cover side of the cavity not to much threaded portion visible from the front.
