So, I scour ebay multiple times a day to try and hit it just right and find a good deal on an MIJ LP that isn't going to cost $100+ to be shipped from Japan. I continually see the Burny and Greco model's all over the map. While most Tokai seem to be higher in general and the Edwards stuff is basically new.
So, what does one look for with the Burny model's (or better yet look OUT for?). This one looks and sounds like it's nice, but the dating is vague (as usual):

The diamond inlay should be enough to date it, early 80s and that's good enough for me. Very much doubt it will go for the starting price but I would budget around £500 all in for it.

Thanks. White is not my favorite color, but if it's a great buy I might have to consider. I assume it's not Nitro, right? I've also posted about that Tobacco Orville on the bay as well... can't stop looking at these MIJ pauls. This site is a GREAT resource btw, very glad I joined!

UITA. can you school me on Burny's real quick? Is seems the diamond inlay is pretty poplular, there is that white one on the bay which tragically has some type of finish issue because an old sticker was on there for years or something? I talked to the seller (who may actually lurk here) who is a big Edwards fan as am I and he said it's a great player:

Burny LP Custom Vintage 1980s Made in Japan VH1 pickups - eBay (item 120338861736 end time Dec-03-08 11:46:23 PST)

Might be a cool project guitar; play as is, save up money and look at a refin? I know there is a place that can refin right over the poly to something new and unique, pretty cool. But damn, if this is nitro... forget about it!

Then there is this one, I believe the seller is actually based in Japan, not sure why this one is in US. Anyway, looks like a slightly relic'd 10+ pounder, ouch! But, no headstock inlay.. thoughts?

Burny Early 90's Honey Burst LP w VH1 MIJ - eBay (item 190260257063 end time Dec-16-08 17:29:11 PST)

Any help appreciated, I'd like to try a Burny on the cheap if possible.
