With a few tricks of wizardry, Florian has managed to turn the pinkish coloured binding into a yellowed, authentic looking one. Ambered coats have been sprayed on the guitar.

And now, he is carefully sanding it, to get an even, super thin finish. :applause:

Work looks amazing as usual, but I cannot figure out how he's already sanding the lacquer the day after spraying.
I've done a couple of refinish job myself and always had to wait at least a couple of weeks before sanding :wow:

The master is probably using a secret recipe for his lacquer, and it means you'll probably e able to play this baby a lot sooner than expected!

He said there is still about a week of curing before starting the ageing on the guitar. We'll see.. :Ohno:

BTW: I do not see the bigsby holes. Did you change your mind?
Which pickups is she getting loaded with? ;)

Regarding the bigsby holes, I am still undecided. I will have to make a choice soon, as I guess the ageing process will start next week.

I will put back what I had on for the last, let me think, 5-6 years: a set of Wizz double whites, NOS centralabs and vintage bumblebees. I tried a few other aftermarket winders, but the Wizz are the best match with this specific guitar.

Good morning guys.

Florian has resumed the work on the guitar. Now he is sanding the finish to achieve a vintage patina. Pictures below still show some polishing compound on it.

Checking looks amazing. Did Florian revel his technique? Is he checking the guitar thermally or using a razorblade tom murphy style?

If you look on his website, I am sure he has repeatedly stated this is not razorblade checking. So I guess it is temperature induced. I didn't ask. :hmm:

I didn’t meant to sound critical, I’m sure it’ll be beautiful.

ageing details...

Looks very authentic to me.

Had a chat with Florian about checking, tone, lacquer... This guy is very passionate about what he's doing. A pleasure to deal with.

Can't wait to have the guitar back in my hands!

That's looking top notch. I'm digging the slightly aged' vibe.

Makes me want to hunt down a used GT.

Congrats!

I know probably @Netwarrior is going to be disappointed about this, but I finally decided to give up on the bigsby. The guitar will stay as it is and will not bear the bigsby marks. The tremolo will be installed in another guitar.
