Hi guys
I've been lurking for years, and finally got a reason for my first post!
Just bought this brand new fernandes lc70rr from eBay. Seller doesn't know anything about this guitar, had some doubts for 2 or 3 minutes, and then pulled the trigger on it.
It's in really good condition, no scratches, and with the what I think is the guarantee sheet from fernandes!
I've read a lot of threads but I couldn't figure out which year it was made, since the pots are marked differently than what clearly explained by jacco.
They marked 504042 and 504072.
The knobs pointers are 45 degrees version.
From what I've understood should be one of the first ones made by kasuga, but I'm really new to fernandes/burny world.
Can you help me identifying this beauty?
Thanks a lot for all the knowledge you guys share!

Shouldn't 87 and later have big diamonds and 90 degrees pointers?

Not really, some I've seen on eBay that were like yours, I think it could be a mid year thing as well, these are kinda hard to find info on..they are stellar guitars though and kind of on the rare side, they don't pop up to often

Yes for sure it's a early to mid 80s...I'm just curious about the exact year to figure out if my new guitar and I are the same years old

It's pre 1987 as that is not a Dyna control cavity.

@o0mobius0o as he is the guy for IDing manufacturer on Burnys and reading pot codes.

My guess might be wrong but I thought maybe Kasuga for factory. And 1985 on pots? Mobes will know though :)

AFAIK the pots are not from 85, 504042 it's just another way to indicate 500k. The second row should be the data code, but it's very confusing since 1 pot shows 0 as first digit. This should be 1980, but the first rr model was out in 1982...Another pot shows j8111. And I couldn't find info about how to read this code!

Fernandes branded singlesuts wer made for export usually, for UK and German market specially but some arrived here to Spain in late 80s to mid 90s, it was confirmed to me by spanish representative. It was called Revival R4 (or R5) model if I recall well.

A 1982 guitar having 1981 pots is not unusual. A 1980 pot being leftover that long is more unusual.

Roxy mine has 1983 pots and was made most probably in 1985 (volute on mine)
Nice guitar have a black standard (mid nineties) branded fernandes, never seen a lc70rr branded fernandes. Beautifull guitar.

Does it have the original pickguard? Should have randy rhoads model in gold on it.
Nice to have that casecandy, that is rare!

A pitty is that the Burny lc70rr is one they sell cheap on sites like Aliexpress. How should those be called... A chinese copy of a japanese copy of a usa Gibson original.....
:dunno:

They probably used an old stock pot, I wouldn't worry so much

No randy rhoads on the pickguard. But this should be normal for the first years. It seems the engraved pickguard started during the matsumoku period

That's a Kasuga cavity. RR pick guard didn't show until Matsumoku around 84-85.
So my guitar should be from 82 or 83 right?
Any advice on how to read these pots data codes?
Thank you!
