Eyeing an American Original 50s but haven't touched many Soft V strats. Last year at GC I kinda didn't like the MIM Soft V I handled.
Hard to come by dimensions on the American Original Soft V...

I do like my '18 R9 or PRS Santana so I don't mind big necks, unless shoulders are too prominent. Even skipped a '14 R9 because of the shoulders on it.

Anyone have some comparison experience on Soft V vs. R9 vs. Wide-Fat vs. Wide-Thin vs. Deep C etc?

My Strat (which is actually a G&L Legacy) has a V profile and my #1 is a 2018 R9. They are nothing alike. The V feels chunkier due to the near-total lack of shoulders. I think it depends largely on your preferred fretting hand grip; if you hold the neck in your palm and either extend your thumb or fret the low E with it like I do, the R9 is way more comfortable. If you keep your thumb on the back of the neck and fret with more of a "spider" grip, the V is perfect.
