Hey guys
a friend gifted me 1 of these amps for teaching his son

are the effects supposed to be on every preset?

how do I turn them off? can I turn them off?

the manual is pretty poor.

I want to like this , but so far I'm not

I think that to modify the presets (turn off the effects, etc.) you will have to connect the amp to your computer and use the Fender Fuse software. Although I think you can use the "Clean" channel setting which should have no effects on it ?

Not sure, as I don't have one of these, just from what I've read here.

Good luck.

Singlecut I don't own one but from my limited time with one I would just move the effects knobs a bit then back down to 0 which seemed to cut out the effects for me.

Twist the effects knobs (each one) and then turn them all the way to the left.

Should turn all effects off.

Then turn the model select knob to red or green.

Push the Save button.

That model, minus effects, is saved to which ever bank you saved to (red or green).

Or you can just turn the effects knobs off each time you play, without saving.

I have V1. Not hard to mess with. I have never connected it to a computer.

Pickups react a little bit differently with digital models, in my experience.

I get some fun tones with the pickup volumes rolled way, way down.

The Fender 57 Deluxe and the British 60's are my favorites.

British '60s = VOX AC30. No wonder it's one of your favorites.

Mine's the British '80s (Marshall JCM800).

Yes, like the above guys said, turn the MOD and DLY/RVB knobs a bit until the effects change, then turn them all the way left until they stop. That will eliminate them from the patch you're working on. Then you can just play with just basic effects such as Overdrive or Compression.

The Mustang I is going to sound just a bit boxy compared to its bigger cousins because of that 8" speaker and the smaller case, but that shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Believe me when I tell you that when you connect the amp to a computer via USB cable with FUSE, that amp will seriously open up and an entire world of customization options will be available to you. And you can save your patches to any of the 24 presets on the amp (3 color banks of 8 presets each). FUSE is the only way to save into the ORANGE bank anyway.

1. Select the amp sound you want (ie turn the knob to select a preset with the appropriate modeled amp, as indicated by the LEDs beside the amp names on the control panel).

2. Turn MOD and DLY/REV all the way to the left to remove unwanted effects.

3. Play with Gain and Tone controls until you get the sound you want.

IIRC the amp is supposed to turn on with all effects basically disabled untl a knob is moved. I did discover a TOTAL bypass mode, of sorts (probalby known to most everyone else), by holding TAP before turning on and then after for a few seconds. Basically turns the box into a PA. Gain doesn't seem to do anything but the tone knobs work on my guitar. No 'amp' or any onboard settings work. I suppose you could do that or something similar and then play with an IRIG or something.

And, yes, the manual kinds bites. Im a bit OCD (literally) and am easily distracted. I gave up my Sheraton about 4 years ago because I was mentally overwhelmed by it and the Mustang V1 that I had. I play acoustic, but getting down all the things required for tone drove me up a wall. Im trying again though- a form of self therapy, I guess. Good luck with the 'stang.

This sounds very interesting. I am going to try it. I have a Tech 21 British pedal which sounds incredible through a PA.

Your method worked. :thumb:

It doesn't sound "great" the way it did through powered monitors, but definitely a cool trick. It must have sounded "OK" though, since I stayed up half the night playing it.

I'm definitely going to have to try this. Thanks for sharing!:thumb:
