This guitar was made in the fender custom shop by my best buddy who works at the custom shop in corona. It was supposed to be purchased by blink 182, but they left it behind and it ended up being available for me to grab. It is a Lee Ranaldo Jazzblaster (missing the upper switches) with a Johnny marr bridge. I’m not sure if this would be considered a custom shop guitar since it isn’t marked as such, but either way, it’s one of my fave fender guitars I’ve ever had the pleasure of playing. Still has the custom shop case with it. And my friend does still work there as a master builder - super humble dude with a ton of talent responsible for some of the modern designs you’re seeing now.

It would have a certificate of authenticity (COA) and CS decal if it's classified as a CS guitar. Even so, the "it is what it is" standard applies, and it's a very desirable version of the JM. I'm curious how the trem and bridge perform. I have beenb using Mastery a d have to confess that I'm not sold on it yet.

I do have some string slippage when playing hard and fast with it. Yeah def no CS serial nor COA. So in the end it’s just an American jazzmaster that came from the custom shop lol. But I love it just the same. I appreciate that info! The trem performs decent and holds the tuning but I also rarely use a trem / vibrato when playing.

Hmmmm… good point. It really is the Lee ranaldo jazzmaster BASED on the jazzblaster to be more accurate. The stripped down wiring etc.

Though I do have a fender made Cunife p90 now that you mention it… granted not a HB and not the jazzmaster size… but it gets me to thinkin.

So it’s a revoiced pickup in the ranaldo jazzmaster, but doesn’t use the cunife magnet. Fender has had them agaib since 2020 and based on what I have here, are prototyping different versions of pickups with the cunife magnet.

Hopefully they’ll do the jazzmaster sized single coil with some so I can slap them in. This cunife p90 here def won’t do me any good for the jazzmaster but I’m going to throw it in a goldtop p90 or the Les Paul special tribute dc.
