You can tell Clapton just loved it. He plucked a few notes then spoke about how he was playing Gibson's at the time mostly.

12 grand for a guitar Clapton tried to make sound not like a Tele then used the neck on a Strat soon after anyway.

What.

12K? Classic Vibe double bound, Maple Fender neck from Amazon, set of Dimarzio Twang kings, and some pots and a good switch. In for under a grand.

Yep. Order aged nickel parts and a roadworn series neck if you wanna go the extra step.

I imagine this guitar has actually made a lot of people do that for a bit of fun. Then when you are bored of it, put the Tele neck back on......

This seems like the very definition of “niche” guitar...!

Watching the live performance video, was mildly amused by the fact that EC seems to have shoved the selector into the middle position and left it there for the duration of that number.

Almost like he was doing his best to get the *least* telecaster-like sound.

Certainly a bit of an oddball choice for him given his preferences before and after.
