What were they made of really ? & how can you replicate that look ?
I read they actually got the clay from out back of their shop. Were they baked ?I have heard Dan Erlewine say he cut them from plumbers Pvc pipe as wellI've used the Callaham dots and also cut my own from PVC. The Callaham dots look more authentic. I'm not sure what they are really made of, I've also heard the linoleum story as well.
I have a load of the Callaham clay dots and they're gray!!! There are at least 3 versions of the original clay dots, made from linoleum, lacquered fibreboard and some other stuff that I don't know. Anyone tried the Vintage Clone clay dots?
If you tint the Callahams a touch after installation they look pretty close.
Flick, I used a strip of cream PVC binding material and a plug cutter.
