EL PASO - It's disgusting, unsanitary and it's going to leave you shaking your head. Migrant workers have turned a Downtown El Paso alley into a gigantic toilet.


Human urine stains the walls and feces is piled up in an alley that's just blocks away from the Convention Center and other tourist hotspots.
"If they don't let you go inside, you have to go anywhere. That's why El Paso is like that," Roberto Miranda said.

I think there might be a culture clash at play too. I used to work at a huge grocery store that hired a LOT of illegal aliens from Mexico and Central America to work in a food court area.

It's gross, but many of them would put their soiled toilet paper in the restroom trash cans rather than just flush it. I was told by another worker that in some of the small towns an villages that these guys came from, the plumbing either didn't exist, or couldn't handle toilet paper.

Don't know how true that was, but it would explain what I witnessed.

Doesn't surprise me about El Paso.

i think it was staged, unless he had uncontrollable runs, it's fairly easy to find a bathroom in a mall, or of course he could just be insane

I'm not a fan of spending tax dollars to accomodate illegals but it might be a smart idea to put up a few Porta-Potties in that alley. It would reduce obvious health risks and might even be cheaper than the clean up costs.

It's true - most of the places I've served in Mexico had indoor plumbing that couldn't handle toilet paper. Either that or a sub-par septic system. It all goes into a little trash can next to the toilet.

I'd agree, but he didn't look much in a hurry to me. I don't know. It might be more believable, if even cruder, if they showed him wiping.
