The auction says that bit is C3 which is great but, at that price, I have a hard time believing that it's a quality product. Plus, the cutting length is only 1" which won't be helpful to you.
I saw a thread on the Tele forum where Preeb recommends these...

http://www.eagleamerica.com/product/v120-0202/ea_-_spiral_bits

In his threads that I have read, he robosands right down to the line, then flushtrims with one of these and has great results. They're more money, but you ALWAYS get what you pay for.

Thanks for the input

I have been using 1" bits, one with a bearing on the top one with a bearing on the stem. So I put the guitar body with template down first and use the stem bearing one followed by flipping the body then using the other bit. But a single bit would be ideal.

This draper bit would do it in one:

NEW DRAPER 1/2" FLUSH 12.7 X 50mm TCT ROUTER BIT on eBay (end time 30-Oct-10 12:36:59 BST)

Good idea to get really close to the line with the sander first.

Whiteside are the best router bits period, and very competitively priced.

I order mine from Edge of Arlington through Amazon.

I really like Freud bits, if they're still what they were 6 years ago. Whitesides are killer too. Dont buy ANYTHING that spins at harbor freight. I took a 1/4" flute to a big fluffy coat once. Lost the coat and almost pooped myself. It was brand new and snapped taking a 1/16" pass in some purpleheart. Never again. Only buy the good stuff. The cheap stuff can kill ya.

That large bit is crazy. Its $130.00 and I can only assume worth every penny. I just email that woodworking school about getting one. :thumb:

Not to be a parrot, but never cheap out on something moving. If it can kill you, and you buy cheap, it probably will.

Just got an email about the bit this morning. Here is what he wrote.

"Hi Dan,

We custom made those bits and sell them here. They're $130.00. It's made of cobalt, 1/2" shaft, 1-1/8" diameter, 2" cutting length, 6 flute spiral, 3/8" bearing, overall height is around 4-1/2". We recommend the bit to be run at 13,000 rpm. We take MC and Visa, just give us a call when ever you're ready. 714-993-4215. Thanks.

William"

So there you have it. I think I will order one up next week. Its going to be great for cutting out with templates. You can make a template and use this thing for necks as well. :thumb:

The Wood Whisperer's video's were extremely helpful when I was getting started. I still look back to them when I need a reminder about setup, safety or technique.
Even though Marc is a drummer he posted a Guitar build by Rick Urschel a while ago (vids 108-110).

DGNRepair - I've seen a video of this bit in action making a table. Any chance you might post one cutting guitar parts?

I might be able to make that happen. I am going to order it up in a day or so. When it comes in I will give you all the info. I am excited to get it. Its going to make life that much easier. I am thinking I might be able to go from rough sawn on the band saw, straight to this bit, with no tearout. :wow: We shall see.
