Staged as hell, but for some reason (growing up with them, most likely) I find them funny.

Hey Barch, you should watch that clip I posted.

Donnie Yen is not an actor, he's a martial artist who can act. His hand speed in the Wing Chun style is jaw dropping and frightening. Anyone who can punch you 20 times in 2 seconds is someone I respect.

from wiki:
Yen has displayed notable skills in MMA, being well-versed in boxing, kickboxing, taekwondo, Muay Thai, wrestling, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Judo, Wing Chun, and Wushu.

You should check out the IP Man movies, they're based on a real person.

Most kung-fu movies have wire work these days (unless you watch Tony Jaa, who uses no wires)

...just saying,..your No CGI comment sounds like you're cutting off your nose to spite your face. These are very good movies and Donnie Yen is not an actor impersonating a martial artist, he's a martial artist. (and I dont see CGI, just wirework when the one guy goes flying/spinning)

It's choreography. Brutal choreography.

These MIC movies,....they're not like Hollywood. People really get hit a lot of the time. That's why it's generally stunt martial artists who take the beating.

Had I posted The Matrix I could see your point, but this?....did you watch that clip?

idk,...guess I'm just biased. I think it's the most BA fight scene I've ever seen.

________

In Hollywood brawls, digitally abetted staccato edits and shaky, off-center perspectives increasingly create a visceral impression of tumult at the expense of coherence (as in the Bourne and Batman movies). But even at their most kinetic the best Hong Kong movies generally ensure that a viewer is able to follow the action in an action sequence. Even in an age of computer-generated imagery, Mr. Li said, the priorities of Hong Kong genre cinema remain “intricate action choreography and a shot breakdown that shows each movement clearly.”

This visual legibility is a point of honor for the martial arts performer, a confirmation of his bona fides. Bruce Lee was often filmed in shots that framed him head to toe, the better to show off his moves. “New technologies should really only be used to enhance the visual quality, not to manipulate the entire fight choreography,” Mr. Yen said. He noted with pride that an especially demanding scene in “Ip Man 2,” in which he and Mr. Hung square off on a teetering table surrounded by upturned benches, took eight days to film.

For the kung fun fan sheer physical ability remains the greatest special effect. “To do an action as simple as standing on a wooden pole takes great skill,” Mr. Yip said. “No amount of technology can recreate that, even today.”

I wasn't making the CGI comment in reference to your post, just as a general one and more in reference to car chase scenes than fight scenes. I'm fine with any fight scene that involves real people and real action and car chase scenes that use real drivers and real cars. In other words, nothing from the Fast and Furious series. :thumb:

I'm very familiar with Donnie Yen and have known who Ip Man, or Yip Man, was since I was a kid. Wire work can easily be ignored as it's been used for decades in martial arts films and it's difficult to find modern films without it.

I love the Hulk smashes Loki scene. I must have watched it 10 times the first time I rented the movie on demand. Funniest scene in the movie. :D

It's the look on Loki's face that really sells it! :thumb:

That part was great, and unexpected.

I liked the 'I'm always angry'

[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7gLzT5ONLBs[/ame]

and the part where Thor and Hulk rode into a building on a dead alien, then out of nowhere Hulk just sidepunches Thor and sends him flying.......just because. :laugh2:

Everything is in Fast and Furious 6. I creamed my pants thoroughly with the ridiculous car chases/races and over-the-top fight scenes.

Here's the trailer from what I would consider probably the best and most disturbing horror film/ thriller ever made. For any horror film buffs out there have never seen this.. Go get it.. No exploding heads and monsters, but a brilliant story line ,stunning photography, great acting and direction. and a twist like no other.

I can't post a link of this because it's not available from YouTube on my phone, but the final fight scene of The Last Dragon deserves some props.

Thank God the 80's was perhaps the cheesiest decade otherwise The Last Dragon would have never been around! Very, very cheesy with horrible acting, but Vanity is amazing looking and dammit I just love this movie. I think I saw it in the theater at least twice. I had to watch it last night so I downloaded it from iTunes.

I can't believe I didn't put this on the bad movies you love thread.
