Fake or real 88' Les Paul Custom??

Not a Chinese fake in the way we're used to seeing them, but looks like someone took an older Japanese copy like a Burny or something and modded it to look like a Gibson. The only thing that throws me off on that theory is the Made in USA and serial are stamped correctly and look really old pre-Chinese fake.

Damn fake Gibby, looks like a Burny, if it plays nice and is cheap why not get it? Just tape over the Gibson logo ��

Absolute Fake. The routing is horrible. I have never seen a Gibson like that. Even my late 70's / early 80's MIJ Burny is way cleaner than those pictures.. Looks like it was built, altered, in someones garage.. Horrible..

fingerboard is not ebony, definitely fake. looks like something horrible like richlite.

Not sure if this means anything but I've been looking at 88 Customs and it looks like the TRC did overlap the diamond logo.

True, but the binding at the top of the headstock, at the 'crease' of the open book is radically different on your example from the instrument in the OP

Also that type of truss rod slot is for an Allen wrench, not a nut driver. Looks like older Japanese production to me.
