So I replaced my studs in my Traditional with the Faber Insert kit and bought a non-tone lock bridge as well.

I didnt want a tone lock bridge as I like to mess with my setup alot and dont want to have the tool handy whenever I do.

The only problem is there us a bit of space around the posts which bugs me soooooo....

What are my alternatives now that my studs are and are apparently 4mm.

- Gotoh Bridge
- Callaham conversion studs (6/32)
- cave and get the locking Faber bridge

Any other suggestions? What is the "best" 4mm bridge out there?

Slip a piece of copper tubing over the posts (Dan Erlewine trick).

I ended up getting the locking bridge. I dont fully screw the inserts down and you can still move the bridge wheels for on the fly adjustments.

I got the locking one and haven't' had a single issue with it in over a year. Adjustments are no problem, you don't need the tool. Use a dime. Even a thick pick will work, if you don't feel compelled to gorilla tighten the locking nut :)

what do you mean by "space around the posts"?

sorry but I just didn't understand, and I am curious as I'm waiting for the same things you bought, the inserts and an ABRN!! :)

I use whatever coins I have in my pocket to adjust it.
If you posts are too high to use a quarter you might want to drive them in deeper.

The holes are sized in the bridge for their locking bushings. If you leave them out, there is slop allowing the bridge to shift around on the the posts. It appears that he found the solution.

That dog dont' hunt. If they are already seated down to the face of the guitar, and you don't like the height of the threads, simply cut some off.

Personally, I cannot believe that with the precision designed into this locking setup, there would be somebody buy it and then want to reverse engineer it back to being a sloppy fit. Shakin' my head..

I used the ABRN and the inserts and there was a bit of space between the stud and the wholes in the ABRN. It probably didnt matter but it bugged me. Eventually I just got ther locking abr from Faber which fits all their studs.
