Exactly What is it that's wrong with '15 Les Pauls?

Before I lay down cash for a new guitar what is all the crying about over the 2015 Gibson Les Paul? Can it be intelligently summed up by anyone here?

Nothing, nothing at all if you like 'em.

Move along....nothing to see here.

Please note, that I am trolling with this post. Trolling will begin in...

Troll is now on:

But what about the bridge that can adjusted with an allen wrench? That's awfully close to the way the bridge works on an Epi, which means Gibson is in the first steps of moving production to China. OMG Gibson is doomed!!!

Obvious trolling has now concluded.

So if Gibson releases a different version of the Lp with normal fretboard, tuners and no hologram or sig for 500 more people will be breaking the door down to buy them. A home run for Henry.

It's your money even if you are you are from the trust fund inheritance generation. Spend it however you want.

Before you plunks down the money, look at what those same dollars could buy on the used market. Unless you are a poser, you know that many used guitars can be just as good or better than new ones.

The wider neck makes it a no go for me. I cramped up after 5 minutes. Plus I would never drop that kind of cash on a guitar I didn't love. The headstock logo and hologram are enough for me to not buy. Also I hate the new case and no desire for a guitar with e-tune nor should I have to swap tuners on a brand new guitar.

On the OFF chance this thread is not what I think it is, and the OP is not what I think he/she is.

The bones of contention seem to be :

Playability
1. Non optional G Force auto tune system that has some percentage that do not work well, or fail, and are hard to use manually. Bad for live situations, by some peoples estimation, not trust worthy. Though they can be replace, many feel that is ridicules to have to add more expense on top of higher price (see below)

2. Wider neck

3. Different neck profile (some have issues with #2 and #3 combined, where one or the other would be fine with them).

Functionality
1. Zero fret/adjustable bridge - More an aestehetic complaint, but still some diss'ing of how this works.

2. G Force, see above

Aesthetic
1. Ill-thought and perceived ugly (certainly uglier) Les Paul 100 logo on headstock.

2. Hologram is less than pleasant to look at. Some just hate it there at all, others that it could have been much better done.

3. Brass zero fret nut. Really more prevalent as a complaint about looks, better fit here.

Price
1. Substantial price hike COMBINED with features above, most, or maybe many, here, feel are unwanted as standard issue.

I know you only have 5 posts, but if you go to previous threads, you'll see tons of comments through the last months that will answer this (over and over and over and over).

That's why the frustration from some responses.

Just hunt around and you'll get your answer.

I think you should go buy your new guitar, and don't let us stop you. After all, what could we possibly know about these things that you don't !!!??? :applause:

Oh I dunno maybe you could stop using Comic Sans, with the bold option for starters....

As for the 2015 Gibsons, I stopped supporting them about two years ago when H.J. lost his F*cking mind,
and went to Warmoth, much happier indeed.

The only dislikes that I see about the '15 lineup are old dogs refusing to learn new tricks, and people that are jealous.

The only reason most people won't buy a 2015 is because they can't afford it (or CAN but don't want to)

If you have the money, and it's the guitar you want - go for it. I don't see any reason that the guitar won't work for you. Plus they have some nice tops in the '15 lineup (Seafoam is 50/50, half kick ass, half mentally challenged, but it's alright)

I'm only 32, so not exactly an "old dog", and a tech/gear nut to boot.

I wouldn't touch one just to smash it to smitherines.

Btw, it's not even the features that are the main issue. It's Henry's blatant disregard for the opinions/feelings/requests, etc... of Gibson's loyal customers.

Bottom line is that the safest way to get satisfaction is to play a few and then buy the one that blows your skirt up.

Wasn't quite referring to old age when I said old dog, but rather someone who sticks to traditional methods - and I couldn't agree more with the disregard of opinions, feelings, and requests; but then again I would think that it's a little bit tougher nowadays. Granted there is a lot more user input, but there's probably a little too much user input - with everyone contradicting each other around the internet; I don't know how he would plan to please everyone... so I guess Henry did the best thing he thought he could do at the time...

"Take all the les pauls we've previously made, and just change a couple things and get that bad johnson on the marketplace."

Though, then again - they do have the custom shop for the truely loyal. :thumb:

I agree. I suggest you go and try some of those 2015 and some previous models, and see how it feels, sounds and looks. Then decide.

One word: price.

If there wasn't a big price increase, there wouldn't be nearly as much crying on here.

If Gibson had not applied these changes across the board to nearly their entire lineup, people would not be freaking out as much.
