Ig the Slug
I always use Ig as as example. Why? Because he is a holy fool. Holy fools are not stupid. They just can't "help" themselves. I saw Ig <Brick by Brick tour< .He was washed-up then. He destroyed City Gardens. He brought THE SEX. A washed-up GOD,is still a GOD.
I have seen many lacklustre shows. Page+Firm, Neil Y +Bluenotes,,,,,,,They were not failures. I knew deal. The TRUE get free passes. Page was BAD. Jittery,off time,,,,,,it was still a "show". A cautionary tale. Needles and LesPauls =knockknees.
I saw Joe Walsh. STONE DRUNK on his back...did not miss a note. Still tragic. C'mon Joe stand up. Johnny Winter at Chestnut Caberet. COKED OUT. Could not walk. GREAT blues guitar. Then,,,,,,unstrapped and feeble.
The good news is. Neil+Page+WiNter+Keef++++++are still alive and well. I'm abit cranky sometimes. On any given day I'll HAMMER the R+R Gods. I know inspired performance. Coasting is CRAP. I believe as long as bands are recording new songs they have hope. Will I buy new STONES? No way. Tattoo You was last decent album. New Eagles? Yawwwn.
Ig the Slug has a new album coming out. KILL ME. James W on guitar. This I will buy. Iggy has been consistent. Crap+Crap+Great+Crap+Great. Soldier is JUNK. I bought it on virgin 180 gm. $14. I would have been better buying chalk? Newts? Graham Crackers?
The lesson is................................
What is the lesson? You can DESTROY your mind and body with R+R. You can write middling riffs and still be a GOD. One day my friend, Big P, found a Cd. History of Ig. I loved it. Ig blowing one chance after another. Breakdowns. Farce gigs. BLOOD. They interview Mike Watt, Marr,Henry,,,,,Raw Power is no failure. It was ahead of it's time. I went out and bought TONS of Ig boots. Caifornia Bleeding+More Power+Head On.
Just remember this next time you have a CRAP gig. NO big deal. Keep serving the GODS of Rock. Be a LEGEND in your own mind. Ig survived because he pleased the GODS. He is a R+R monkee.
