I have an opportunity to possibly purchase/trade for a '98 dot reissue. He has the (made in Canada) brown Gibson USA case and the pink lining with satin cover (sounds like a standard case from that era?). Did these have a big '59 neck vs. a newer (2011) dot reissue? Did these come with a COA back then? I'm assuming '57 classic PUs vs. Burstbuckers in the 2011, correct? Just trying to get an idea of what I will be seeing in the difference between the two before I make the trip to check it out in person. Thanks!

Should have a slim taper 60's neck. Consider it more of a '61 than a '59. Should have 57's which were very good in that era. Those cases are worth the price of admission, imho, best cases ever. Don't know about COA on a '98, probably not.

That era Dot Reissue with 57 Classics were/are great sounding guitars. Really good.

Update: I went to look at it last night and fell in love! It had the '59 neck. I ended up trading my 2011 Dot reissue + cash for it. The 2011 had the slimmer '60s D shaped neck, and I'm really partial to the bigger necks on my Historic LPs. This baby came with all the original case candy and is dead mint - no play wear or marks and still plastic on the pick guard! I don't know how this stayed so pristine. The original owner must have either had many other guitars, or just a lot of money and didn't play guitar
Pix don't show it, but there's some nice subtle flame at certain angles.

Here's the 2011 ES-335 Dot - bye bye!

I recently bought a 335 and can't put it down. Seriously great guitars. I nearly pulled the trigger on a '59 reissue but ended up with a more modern model.

Oh, wow. Job well done.

I'm swimming in envy but very glad for your fortune.

Do enjoy!

Good trade! Give the fingerboard a good rub the Fret Doctor. You will love the darker shine.
