Epiphone is just as good as Gibson. Slash posed on pictures with one, so it should mean something.

TBH guys, and flame all ya want... since I got my SQUIER Tele, it has had more play time than my GIBSON les paul, and Today I bought an EPIPHONE Dot...I don't really give a rats ass what is on the headstock, if I can make a $200 CDN Squier sound great, then I am gonna play it....

You guys have a thing or 2 to learn from the TDPRI telecaster website where MIM and Squier CV telecaster are welcome and treated as what they are : good guitars. I can only judge from what i have played on and I can tell you : it's a good guitar.

I don't give a rat's ass either. I saw the lead guitarist for Wayne 'The Train' Hancock play a $99 Epiphone Special one night. He kicked ass on it!
He said his Fender Telecaster was in the repair shop. You bet your last dollar, though, that as soon as it was ready, he gave the Epiphone back to his daughter!
Please note, all of you, that I have not posted any derogatory remarks about Epiphone guitars. It's you Epiphone owners that are getting all riled up. Don't be so sensitive!:dude:

I think this kid is Shitheads cousin or something,Shithead had some picks on a thread the other day. His parents buy him what looks like pretty much whatever guitar he wants. There was some gibsons in the pics so he has a few. I think the thread was in the back stage called "had a pretty good day". Lucky bastards.

Most of that statement is true, however, the boys get some Birthday money and do some trading too to help with their love of guitars which i think is great!
I played his ZW Epi and the Gibby LP custom back to back, same amp and settings, and to me it wasn't worth $2000-$2500 more for a Gibson.
Maybe if you are a working musician,or recording artist it might be worth the difference. Not to me personally.

:laugh2:

Show me a video of him playing it one stage with one of his bands - THAT would mean SOMETHING.

The fact that Gibson paid Slash enough to put his name on a model of guitar that he never plays and pose for a photo op means NOTHING.

Now - I AM a big fan of Epiphone guitars (and I'm not delusional about what they are and how they're made) - but some of the logic here just cracks me up!

The law of diminishing returns most definitely applies here. I don't think that anyone is saying that Epiphones aren't the better value - THEY ARE - but they are not "the same" or "better" or "just as good as" a Gibson by any objective measure. They may be better for you - and they are the better deal without a doubt.

There is also some GREAT stuff coming from Epiphone in next year's offering. That 60 model, with the push pulls and the hard case at a street price of $800 (long tenon, offered with a 60's or asymmetrical neck profile and Gibson pups - wow, what a deal!! ).

They were good enough for the Beetles!!:hmm:

That is a FANTASTIC point... the AMERICAN MADE EPIPHONES of the 1950's/60's were good enough for the Beatles.

The only Epiphone guitars made here in the USA as of late are a John Lennon reissue made by Gibson, and that Wilshire made in the Gibson Custom Shop. Those ARE "as good as" or "better" than your average Gibson.

Thanks for helping me prove my point! :laugh2:

I'll get back to pimping out my Korean Epiphone Casino here... I just got a new Gotoh bridge for it, as well as new bridge posts and thumbwheels. Definitely a step up. I'm just waiting for my stock Epiphone pups to get back from being rewound by WB (and having new magnets and leads installed), then it will be complete. This is going to be a KILLER guitar FOR THE MONEY I have invested in it. :thumb: As nice as my vintage Gibson and Guild hollowbodies? NOPE! Still very nice, though.

I wish Gibson guys would support there little brothers more. I wish I had the money for a Gibson but I dont right now. So I play next best thing epi's and love them. I know Gibsons are great guitars hell the best but epihone is a damn good sub.

*shrugs*

I own both. 3 Epis, 2 Gibbies...I play 'em all.

PS: You do know, for the price of those 2 Epi's you probably could have bought a Gibson. ;)

There is a great clip of Zakk demoing his Epi Bullseye floating around on Youtube.

I honestly haven't seen Slash do much of anything w/ his Epi sig model.

If they suck then why did you buy 3 of them?! Just because it's an Epiphone it doesn't automatically suck, just because it's a Gibson doesn't make it a great guitar. There are good ones in every field. There are some Fender Squires out there that play as well or better than their "American" cousins.
I have 2 Epiphone Les Paul Standards from '05 and '08. Both are very good guitars and can do everything that my Gibson Les Paul Studio can do. Except that I paid exacty for the 2 Epis that I did for 1 Gibson. Check out the Gibson section and listen to all the bitching and modding that goes into a so called "better" guitar. I do hold Gibson to a higher standard than Epiphone, after all if you have the audacity to charge $2500.-$6000.00 for a guitar it damn well better be perfect, not after a bunch of upgrades and mods, perfect right out of the box. For what Epiphones cost I wouldn't mind having to make some changes. I got very lucky with mine in that they were correctly set up before I got them, no mods, just a pro set up.
I paid $300.00 and $350.00 for my 2 Epis and honestly I wouldn't take $500.00 for either of them. There was a time that I too had an attitude about Epis, but now my eyes and ears are open to the fact that a good Epiphone can be found.:thumb:

I used to think epis were just as good as gibsons, until i actually PLAYED one. now i play ONE les paul (the gibson) and the 3 epis sit on the shelf. but you do have a valid question as to why in the hell i bought 3, i still ask myself to this day
