Epiphone or "Gibson Epiphone"?

not looking for a fight here, but you do seem to be looking to take issue or nit pick anything i have said, despite the fact you open #16 by effectively agreeing with me.

i have notified another mod of your threat as i consider you to be abusing your powers somewhat, however maybe it would be best for both of us to now call a truce and walk away from this thread. what do you say?

I have wasted hours of my life clicking on Craigslist or Ebay ads
listing "Gibson Les Paul" only to see it's an Epi.
Or doing a search for Gibson and getting 3000 "Gibson" Epiphones as well.

No offense to the Epi crowd, but is it a Gibson?

Does anyone really think the exposure of the misleading title
will sell the guitar, especially when they are looking for a Gibson, not an
Epiphone?

Last I checked, Epiphone had it's own website and guitars...every retailer
lists them as such, and the only connection to Gibson is that they own Epiphone, and offer
some of the same models at lower cost. (And I really love the Lennon Casino model)

I don't think it has to do with Epiphone owners, Epiphone itself or whatever. It's people just trying to get more traffic on their ads. The Epi Les Pauls are licensed, so they effectively are real Les Pauls, which for some reason irritates many Gibson owners to no end. However, they are Les Pauls, nonetheless...Epi Les Pauls. And from what I've seen regarding the 2015, Epi Pauls seem to keep some characteristics closer to the original now than the Gibsons.

Why ask the Epi owners if we think it's a Gibson? Ask the seller; he's the one who posted it. As Paruwi said, we know what we have.

they had 'Epiphone by Gibson' on the headstock for a short time,

it was around 86-88 to 'get the connection' to Gibson

Gibson on the TRC was used until around 03-04
it stopped when their first own factory in QingDao started

Yep. My old '86 S-600 (Jackson lawsuit) had "Epiphone by Gibson" on the headstock.
