That is an older pic. I've subsequently taken of my pickguard also and changed the pups (see pic way above). Not sure why they stop makin'em but I'm keeping mine. I'm sure they'll bring'em back at some point though.

 I know that's right! And Coop, maybe by that time I'll be able to make that thing sing as you do with your entire stable!:thumb:

I love mine. I did shave the back of the neck though. I got it on ebay, it came with a Jeff Beck pickup in the bridge position and a 59 in the neck. I changed all the hardware to black

I've got the HCSB Custom Plus like Coop's and it is a fantastic guitar! It has the best sound in middle position I've ever heard. Use to have a Gibson Studio but life happened. My Epi can do anything it could do. And the plus top is beautiful.

I bought my black LP custom in a pawn shop for $250 and it was still set up properly and played like a dream. Switch gave me some trouble so replaced all the controls and wiring and it sounded even better. Same pickups and loving care played through tubes = sweeeeeet.

I was looking at new and used. I ended up buying a used one. It is heavier then the new ones I tried, and just felt better. I have had it about a month now. I plan on getting a RS Guitarworks wiring kit, I'm thinking the Vintage/Modern prewired.?:slash:

You should get a brand new one. It's worth it. I love my Epi heritage cherry sunburst custom!

Used is the way to go. I bought mine last summer through Craigslist for $350. It's a 1995 model, made in the Unsung factory in Korea. I was playing it earlier tonight and adjusting the pickup height to my liking (hadn't done it since I bought it). It is a great guitar - solid as a rock, sounds great, feels & plays great!

I have a brand new custom in white. I cannot afford to make any upgrades, and I am also just starting out, so maybe that is a good combination! I would say that there was something special for me in getting a new guitar, but I don't know if I would get a new one again. You can get the same guitar for less than half-price used, and then you can make several modifications if you like. When my wife will let me buy another guitar (and when I can play well enough to justify it), I think I would go for two used quicker than one new, if that makes sense. If it matters to you to get a new one, get a new one, but once you do, you will probably realize that it isn't very different from a used one and yet you paid double. Just my experience with it. Good luck!
