Hi all, I'm gonna buy my first guitar and I was wondering if the Epiphone Les Paul Studio was a good choice? I think it is but I wanted to know what you think about it... and also, how does the "worn cherry" finish look like? I suppose it looks like this (I mean, only the color, I'm not taking about the pickups, the neck and everything, just the color...)

thanks :thumb:

Um, that's actually a picture of the Gibson one, which is quite a bit more expensive than a first guitar. It says Gibson on the case and headstock...

I'd go the worn cherry finish or the ebony. It's your choice, just go and test them out. I think it'd make a great first guitar!

IMO, the Epi "worn cherry" finish is not very impressive looking in person. It is much too red, especially when comparing to the Gibson VM.

I got one of these last week as a small bonus from work and my buddy's shop had both the cherry and the brown.

I went with the brown because it played better, but it also looked much nicer.

I like red... :p

I find the ebony too dark... everything is black on it, I don't really like this finish... and, I'm gonna buy my guitar by musicstore.de, so I couldn't test them out before buying but I have a 30 days money back guarantee if I don't like it...

That is a whole lot of guitar for the money - regardless of which color you go with.

Personally, I do not care for this guitar. I saw it in person (both of them), and the finish was far from pleasing. The guitar was not finished (nitrocellulose) and was not rough, but not smooth. I then plugged it in, and the sound was weak. It could have been a bad experience but my advice, play it before you but it....
For a first guitar, I would go with an Epiphone Les Paul Standard.

you have to expect that sometimes man. It is wise to play a bunch man. Every studio is gonna be a bit different. Evey Std ect you know. The higher the cost of the guitar (you know like you Gibson that you had to sell :( )the more consistant there gonna be. But you will find an Epi that rocks man, you will.
