A friend of mine had one of those when we were just starting out with guitar. I have a soft spot for them. They are what they are. For the money not that bad.

This is a great beginner guitar, I bought the $99 SG version for my daughter because we aren't sure of her yet? But if you (or your kid) are past the beginner stage, or are sure you are going to keep playing a year from now, I would go for a $300 to $400 model or better, so you don't have to buy another one a year from now. Cheaper still is buying an $800 dollar model, used, for $300 to $400. Before you buy check the Fake thread to make sure you're getting a good deal.
