Apart from the Standard having Probuckers over the Trad's Proprietary Humbucker (???), I'd say they can be setup to play as good one or the other. The deciding factor would then be purely cosmetic since they have the same neck profile.

Woah that Quilt top model is an absolute bargain!

The Trad Pro is also awesome value but $499 for a Gloss finish Epiphone is amazing

Totally agree with Doc. On top of that, one's $100 more - were you planning to do any mods? If so, maybe factor that in??

Probably get both and strip for hardware /parts , seeing as both should have cts pots and graphtech nuts . I would love to see the 60's in person , but alas , none within a few hundred miles of me .

Proprietary Humbucker (???)
Proprietary :

adjective

  1. relating to an owner or ownership.
"the company has a proprietary right to the property"

noun

  1. an owner; proprietor.

I believe they are Alnico Classics in the Trad Pro IV .

I also have Google on my computer.

Aren't all Epiphone pickups proprietary, except when Gibson are used ? Mentioning that in the specs doesn't give any info as to what they are. Thus my interrogation.

If no cost difference, and assuming I could get same color I want - I'd go for the '59. If anything just because of the more expensive pickups and no slash logo on the back of the headstock and truss rod cover.

As most of you know I just converted my JB 59 guitar over to the AFD Slash guitar. I own the Anaconda Burst that came out last yr. The slash I own plays really well I am not sure what they did to these but it feels more like my custom than my standards. I would say that the Slash is a well built guitar. That being said.. So are these JB lazz 59s guitars. I really like the feel of this JB it plays great sounds good and feels like a standard . I think these 59s are better speced guitars and make a better slash than the slash epiphone is putting out....
