Epiphone Les Paul 100 "Limited Edition"

Hello all,

I am new here, I come from Germany.

I have recently purchased an Epiphone LP 100. Seems to be from the year 2003. It plays really great, everything is ok.

On the back of the headstock is - under the varnish - the logo "Limited Edition". Does anyone know the difference to the "normal" LP 100?

Except for the truss rod cover and the pickguard in pearloid I could not see any.

They apply that “Limited edition” logo on a lot of models. I believe it’s almost always related to something to do with colors or cosmetics, nothing more. Usually it is something that they put in a specific retailer, only available at one place, that kind of thing. I could be wrong, and I would be happy to be wrong about this. Sometimes it is also used on actual limeted run, special models, like sig models etc. Obviousally this isn't the case here, and what you point out is the most likely for the OP's guitar.

I had one LP 100 some time ago. by memory, the nut was white and pick guard is white plastic.
I guess that the special edition gives you pearloid and a special nut .
Maybe the pickups are different too , I can't tell.

All in all, you have a "Special Edition" and that's cool

Epiphone has had that stamp and one mentionning Custom Shop on about 99% of their guitars in the past 12 or 13 years. Doesn't mean much more than good marketing.

Example want to order 300 in a special red then that becomes a limited edition in Epi world.

You have a collectible "MIK" model!

The 100 is under-rated due to the bolt-on neck but they are quite good.

They fit between the Specials and whatever the Standard needed ... by having a bolt-on neck like Specials but the pickups/wiring harness parts of the Standard (full sized pots), and carved top body of the Standards/etc rather than the flat top body of the Specials.

You will likely find that the caps are 0.033uF rather than the typical 0.047uF on prior and later countries other than MIK... and that improves the tone. Some just know about better tone of MIKs and some know why. A few had 0.022uF.

(Took up guitar 6 yrs ago at age 57 )

gave it a buddys son and dove down the rabbit hole
