It's not his fault he's not Ace, he needs a job like everybody else. If Gene walked up to me and said "we need a new guitar player, the only catch is you gotta dress like Ace every night", what am I gonna say? No thanks? Yeah right, I'd be all over that and I suspect most of us would, if not all of us.

All I would to say is, "Gene that check better not bounce" :thumb:

Not everybody does.

Perhaps you will eventually stop listening to Duran Duran and learn what rock and roll is really all about. ;)

Maybe fans of KISS should realise that a whole bunch of rock sumbitches (that proudly includes me) find KISS a bunch of overrated crap musically, even if the show is pretty funny.

I got no beef, but KISS ain't the savior of RnR no matter what fans think, and in fact they were insignificant only a few years after they came out. The rest is like watching a Lindsey Lohan bio based on PR, PR, PR.

And musically, they had no impact for me, other than compared to every other band I liked at the time, they sucked.

So this really is a non-issue ain't it?

And yet here you are. KISS has a funny way of bringing people that don't care about them into threads about them. :thumb:

Sort of off-topic, but I think Gibson was smart with the Blackwater. In looking at it you can't even hardly tell it's a signature model - which leads me to believe that Gibson knew not a lot of people would buy something Nickelback related.

Still, even then some were unable to separate the Nickelback stigma from it. I wouldn't ever buy one as I'm not super crazy about it - but it was smart from Gibson's standpoint.

Back to your regularly scheduled tribute band talk. :thumb:

That guitar reminds me of what I really am......

What doesn't make sense? KISS threads draw a lot more detractors than they do fans - people who can't stand KISS and hate them will take any opportunity that presents itself to talk about them.

Some guys have become famous by filling another guy's shoes but filling another guy's suit and persona gives me kind of the creeps.
If he would have come in with a new character and made history on his own, fine. But Ace invented the Spaceman character and will forever be "it".
Even more bizarre is Ace having his Sig models at Epi and Gibson already...and then the "other guy" gets his with Epi. Strange thinking, strange marketing.

You talk like it was Thayer's decision to wear the suit and makeup. It wasn't and if he chose not to do it, someone else would have and Tommy would have found himself looking for another gig. Anyone who says they would walk away from that is either lying or an idiot.

Tommy used to go get Ace's dinners for him.

I'm not talking about it being his decision or whether it's a good gig or not.
Just from the "character" point of view (that decision was certainly Gene and Paul's) and contribution to music.

Gibson and Epi made sig models for Ace because he established himself in the guitar circles. Tommy just filled in Spaceman's boots. Unless I missed something, I don't think he has brought anything new or extraordinary to Kiss or the music industry.
That said, I have nothing against him, I'm not a fan of Kiss. I just find it bizarre that he would get a sig model, especially as Ace has an Epi and Gibson sig model already.

Serious question... Is Tommy Thayer a full member of KISS or is he simply a sideman? All this talk of "not his decision" makes me think that he has no say in anything hence he's must not really be a band member in the fullest sense of the word.
