I'm late to the party here. Just received a 59 dark burst that I purchased for my birthday present,
In the past I've owned and enjoyed a few '56 Gold top's, a Tribute Les Paul Standard w/ asymmetrical neck (I miss this one) and an Epi Inspired by "1955" LP Custom and I have to say the 59 has really impressed me the most out of any of the others I've owned right out of the box. It tuned right up w/ low action no buzzing frets. Spot on intonation. I did change the strings though! Sounds and plays great!
Playing it thru a Fillmore 25 combo and a Winfield Cyclone - Killer tone!!
They're great guitars indeed. The finish on my Southern Fade didn't do much for me at first, but the guitar plays so good that it's worth holding on to.

That's actually a fairly clean and factory spec soldering job. Could it be *look* better? Sure, boutique guys can make it look a bit neater, but what you have is quite sufficient. Only thing would be the caps look tangled and if there's any give in the pots when turning, or if any of the outer ground braiding touches the exposed parts of the cap legs (see circled portions for example), that could cause some problems. You can tidy that up by just moving the caps so they align with their corresponding pots.

Other than that, visually there's not much to work off of and it all looks fairly clean and standard. Once you get your meter, you'd be able to check the pots. But from the sounds of it, if moving your jack solved the issue, it might not necessarily be an issue with the pots.

Update on my Epi 59 LP issue:
After local (authorized) repair failed to restore the sound quality and volume taper and the guitar developed a hum (???), Sweetwater Guitar Shop agreed to take a look at the 6 month old LP. After a brief review,
Sweetwater decided to replace the instrument.
So I have a new LP with that warm, sweet blues tone that I love.
A lot to like about Sweetwater!!

Noticed these are going down in price .
I seen the lemon burst on sale for 779 not sure if that includes the other colors or not. Even at 779 that still seems high priced to me..

Not 100% sure I like the covered look or not. The covered neck uncovered bridge looked better I think but I wanted at least one of my 59s to look somewhat stock and vintage looking. I will probably leave it this way. I didn't seem to lose any openness from the pups compared to being uncovered like I thought I would. Other than the faber bridge pieces and the Kluson locking tuners the guitar is pretty much stock if that even makes sense?? I still want to get the Cherry Burst one of these to complete my collection.

I would love to get a nice set of Montey's for this thing or something along those likes. I have enough Gibson and Dimarzio pups as it is. Though it is fine the way it is. I just find these BB's a little harsh at times.

I purchase my guitars and pretty much just leave them after putting locking tuners on them. Sure I made mod's to my Lazarus, only because I originally wanted a Slash AFD for a long time. Haha

I just love to tinker man!! These Epiphones are great mod platforms though once I get the guitar to where i want it. I tend to leave it alone.

Some morning shots of my Epiphone 59 ,ive tried to capture the natural shine it has developed in just 10 months of playing
it’s not dull at all like a lot of the satin finishes I’ve seen

I've experienced the same. I love its look.

Was wondering the other day, everybody still loving their '59s???
The talk has moved on to other topics, but it's still the one for me.
