They're great guitars indeed. The finish on my Southern Fade didn't do much for me at first, but the guitar plays so good that it's worth holding on to.I'm late to the party here. Just received a 59 dark burst that I purchased for my birthday present,
In the past I've owned and enjoyed a few '56 Gold top's, a Tribute Les Paul Standard w/ asymmetrical neck (I miss this one) and an Epi Inspired by "1955" LP Custom and I have to say the 59 has really impressed me the most out of any of the others I've owned right out of the box. It tuned right up w/ low action no buzzing frets. Spot on intonation. I did change the strings though! Sounds and plays great!
Playing it thru a Fillmore 25 combo and a Winfield Cyclone - Killer tone!!
