I have always used 10s - 11s mostly 11s . I don't think I would like the feel of a LP with 8's .. Getting older now and my hands hurt so have had to step down to the 10's but i do own a few LP's that just scream for 11's. I have used 8's in a couple strats and they were cool to play around with but just not my cup or tea I guess. One of these days I may use one of my LP's I don't play and put a set of 8's on always up for new ideas and shit like that....

I ran into this guitar yesterday at guitar center. I wanted to try the Mesa Boogie Badlander amp. This 59 was in the used section. I grabbed it to try out the amp. The Badlander was ok, but I realized I really liked the guitar. I've had 2 of these in the past and returned both because I didn't really think there was anything special about them, but this one felt and sounded really good. So I ended up taking it home. Needed a little set up, but what a great guitar for about $700 in new condition. It looks like it was never played.

I brought my son's epi '50s in to the shop, and off hand asked the guy if they had any of the '59s in (I'd been looking to pick one up since they were announced). he tells me "hang on" ... pops out back and comes out with a Lazarus '59. Apparently someone ordered one and head office sent 2.

The rest is history. Longest part of the decision was figuring out my story for when my wife found out

It's so rare for me to even play a guitar before I buy it these days which sounds weird to say. So when the opportunity comes, it seems like a no-brainer.

I’ve enjoyed my Epiphone ‘59 Standard. I originally bought it to play outdoor gigs during the pandemic. I usually play jazz on hollow or semi hollow bodies. Also have a tele, so I wanted to try an LP.It’s a great guitar! The only problem I had was the tuners - it would not hold tuning well at all. I replaced them with better quality Klusons.

I purchased my southern fade from zzounds but I'm no longer buying anything from them as they charge full retail for almost everything. The used market is burgeoning with like new musical equipment for huge discounts now. I've just picked up a Vox AC15HW1X with an alnico blue for $1,300 in like new condition. Picked up some great studio mics last month for huge discounts too.

I'm late to the party here. Just received a 59 dark burst that I purchased for my birthday present,
In the past I've owned and enjoyed a few '56 Gold top's, a Tribute Les Paul Standard w/ asymmetrical neck (I miss this one) and an Epi Inspired by "1955" LP Custom and I have to say the 59 has really impressed me the most out of any of the others I've owned right out of the box. It tuned right up w/ low action no buzzing frets. Spot on intonation. I did change the strings though! Sounds and plays great!
Playing it thru a Fillmore 25 combo and a Winfield Cyclone - Killer tone!!

But I've been married for sometime now, and I end most of our arguments the same way...

"don't look at me... you married him"

Lately I've livened it up a little by adding... "you know, if you had higher standards..."

That's been good for at least another 30 minutes of entertainment.
