Epi Ultra II mono output doesn't work with battery in for the nanomag, why?

I just bought the Ultra II and can't get the mono output to work unless I remove the battery. I'm only running with one cable hooked up, so when I go from the stereo/namomag output jack with the battery in, the namomog works. Pull the cable out and move it to mono, I have no output. Is this a problem or am I missing something? There are no instructions on using this, and I'm very disappointed. If I run two separate cables out, one to my amp and one to my toneport, the mono output still doesn' work. Remove the battery and the mono output works like a regular electric guitar. WTF?

I can't think of any reason the nanomag would work at all without the battery. Are you sure you're not getting the knobs mixed up (you'd said you didn't have a manual)? The knob nearest to the output jack is the nanomag volume knob. You're saying with that knob all the way up, the one above it (the master tone) knob up for a sound you like, and the others at zero, you're still not getting any sound when plugged into the mono jack?

Hi

and welcome here !

Epiphone Les Paul Ultra-II
^^ maybe this will help....

Be sure none of the "regular" volume knob is down to zero,

'cause each works as a "master"
