hey everyone, i've been playing guitar for 3 months now and i just got an epiphone les paul with alnico 2 pro pickups on both neck and bridge. I already like how my guitar sounds as it is but then i was wondering if i could make it sound even better by upgrading the pots, capacitors and the rest of the electronics, the thing is im not quite sure which upgrade kit would be best for my guitar the modern or the vintage kit?

YES . It will absolutely benefit from an RS upgrade kit. The stock wiring in the epiphones are junk. I just put the vintage kit in my buddies Epi Lester, and ithe difference is like night and day !! Much more dynamic and sweet sounding plus the vintage kit ( 50's wiring ) allows for better interaction between the volume and tone pots ; more combinations of usefull tones instead of everything needing to be dimed all the time to sound good.

The RS Modern kits use the RS GuitarCap. When the Tone control is on '10', the RS GuitarCap is sonically transparent, giving a clearer tone. This is good for guitars that are dark, muddy, or lifeless. Also great for guitarists that require the ultimate in clarity & definition. The ultimate for ^metal^.

The RS VIntage kits use the RS/Jensen cap. When the Tone control is on '10', the RS/Jensen cap will remove some of treble frequencies of the guitar's tone, giving a warmer sound. This is good for guitars that are bright, thin, harsh, or for guitarists that are seeking a warmer, fuller, fatter tone.

The RS ReIssue kits recall those tones from back in the 50's & 60's, with a higher midrange presence, more bark, more bite, more honk.

so if you get the modern kit and roll the tone back just slightly then you have the vintage kit?
