I (and dare I say we all???) did TONS of stupid shit.
But if something had gone wrong, I would have viewed the jail cell as protection against coming home to the REAL consequences.

I think a lot of us probably had similar situations.

"Your dad's here with your bail."
"Hard pass, officer."
never mind dad,in our house it was mom you had to watch.she thought nothing of a quick backhand or a good hard kick to the seat of the problem.

About half of my friends had children that were very hard to be around. The other half raised them the way our parents raised us. Guess whose children are well adjusted adults with jobs?

When one no free zoner was 6 is when I had bought my 03 Ram and he wanted a ride in it as he liked trucks. I said ok but only if you keep your feet on the floor and don't kick the back of my seat. Two minutes into the ride he was kicking the back of my seat. I told him to stop or I was going to leave him on the side of the road.

He says back to me, "It's not brand new anymore because you didn't buy it yesterday!"

I bought it 5 days ago rather than yesterday. His mother thought he was the smartest, funniest child ever.
mom needed an ass kicking too.my kids were not allowed in the garage until they were old enough to be around cars.and dont ask if you can eat or drink in my car,i dont care how old you are.

My mother was judge and jury.
My father was the executioner.

This gave my mother more power than you can imagine.
You did not want my father involved in any discipline.

I pretty much ran my house the same way.
I don’t care what you did.
I don’t need any details.
For some reason, your mother couldn’t handle this and it fell in my lap?
You’re going to get your ass kicked.

You will learn to listen to your mother.

They did.

It’s funny, when they got older, they would actually confide in me.
Or fess up in advance to try to plea their case with me instead of their mother…

My father was a methodical disciplinarian. He was a WWII & Korean vet and was unemotional when it came to corporal punishment.
The usual sentence for just about any infraction was 6 lashes on the bare ass with a leather dog leash.

I don't think I ever raised a hand to my son and he's turned out pretty good. So it is possible.

RW BMWs are the worst snow cars of all time.....lucky they did not kill all involved

Years ago I had an E36 325i that wore studs from December to March and was shockingly grippy. But yeah, without the studs, it was dicey, to be sure.

Currently I have a 328i X-Drive and my wife drives an X3. Best AWD systems on the planet…these cars run like they‘re on rails in snow and are still a blast to drive on dry pavement.

And .... this is the reply that I can endorse, completely.

I don't go for studded tires, because I have another vehicle (truck) with 4WD that I will mostly choose if I HAVE to go out in snow. But I do have really good "All Season" tires, that have great grip (with newish tread), so I'm not in the least "afraid" to drive the E-90 in snow. It's 6-speed manual, too, which contributes greatly to "control" (by me) in dicy conditions. It's almost a game to see how closely I can ride the line for the Traction Control light.

My next BMW will be X-drive. I'm not really track-day driving these days, so I'll give up a little performance for a little more control.

Dude, they get no sympathy from me either, I hope I didn't somehow imply that they did in my post.
I just know the sort of stuff we were doing at 16 and 17 years old.
We had licenses, we had cars (well, some of us anyways), and we did stupid stuff that our parents never would have condoned or supported.
Had we been caught, it wouldve been solely on us.
our parents didnt actually go out of their way to teach us to break the law or do stupud and potentially dangerous stuff.
The parents aren't to blame for the actions of the kid, but they are responsible if they're minors.

And send them to where or who?
Send them down.

To who depends on what higher power they believe in.

Edit. That's the Yellowstone reference. Seems a little over the edge for real life.

This is a harrowing news report.
Nothing of consequence will happen to these malicious kids, they will receive nothing more than a slap on the wrist.
Our country is circling the drain.

X-Drive is set up at baseline to deliver 60% power to the rear wheels and 40% to the front, so it retains a bit of that RWD jump. And it's wicked quick off the line, with all four wheels pulling at the get-go.

If technology and social media has one redeeming quality it will be this incident forever attached to these little shitheads.

Except that they are minors and their names haven't been mentioned :(
