Anyone here have an amp that has an emulated line out from the power amp that you can plug into your audio interface for recording? If anyone has done this, how does it sound? Can you DI it into your DAW and use Guitar Rig to add effects to the track?

My Marshall TSL-122 has this feature, and I was thinking about giving it a try if it was worthwhile.

I use it more for running to the soundboard live instead of a mic'd cabinet, and I've used for recording it does sound great but doesn't obviously have the "room" sound so I also mic the cab and blend the signals.

It does get you a good starting place if you use your effects plugins to add the room sound later.

I know this is not an answer to your question, but it's more then related. Check out Yerasov (yeah, it's russian site, but you'll find your way), and take a look at "TUBE AMPLIFIER EMULATOR GT-2". There are two links in that section, "Звуковые примеры" (sound samples), and "Эл. cхема" (electrical scheme). So, check it out. It's the best example of DI recording I know of (and I don't know much, so I might be wrong). All I want to say is that DI can sound damn good, and Yerasov is the only example I know of that really did it decent. Hope this helps.

Pheaz amps have a line-out. I haven't done anything with it.
