I listened to the alnico speaker shootouts and I liked this speaker best of all.

Question, has anyone here got any experience with them in a 4x12? Their specs say "usable" frequency range starts at 90Hz.

I don't get enough low E string growl out of Greenbacks with the 75Hz cones, so I wouldn't be happy with a speaker that didn't get more bottom end than a greenback. I do get enough low end growl out of the G12H30 with 55Hz cones.

How nice is the bottom end of the EJ1250s and how do they compare with the bottom end of the G12H30/55Hz greenbacks?

Edit: Might add I am using these with a Plexi clone, a Metro kit 1987 50w head with ppimv.

Huge low end in my open backed cabs. Haven't tried them in a closed cab.

I use vintage JBLs in an open backed Marshall cabinet, I'd use the EJs the same way. They can get that low E string growl pretty good?

Very different sound than a JBL or EV, but very rich and detailed with great bass. Not the hard clarity of those speakers or the nasal buildup of various Greenback variants.

Speakers are just so subjective. It's a great sound, but I have no way of knowing if it's *your* great sound.

EggggggZactly! At $1200 for a quad, it will be an expensive guess. From all I have heard of these, I think I would like them and keep them. Time will tell. I have some vintage JBL D131s to sell off and i was going to put the money into the EJs.

Still got a cabinet full of JBL D123s which are great speakers, I am keeping them. They sound as good as the larger D131s and D120s but at half the volume. They get all the Duane Allman tones you could want at a decent level that won't get you ran out of the venue.

Thanks for your help Lyle!
