I received an odd email that I believe is a phishing scam. It says it's from McAfee and says I purchased McAfee LiveSafe™ - 1-year subscription. The charge is in £ and I live in the States. At first I thought perhaps my CC had been compromised. The email had my name and then listed the last 4 digits of the Visa credit card that was used. These numbers don't match any of my cc numbers.

The email also has a link to "download" the software you purchased. The screams some kind of virus.

Any ideas? Have you seen this before?

Looks like you answered your own question.. If it walks like a duck, and talks like a duck.. It's a duck.. Put your curser over the link they provided to download the software.. Look on the bottom of your browser it will display the URL.. Look at the suffix dot XXX.. That's usually some foreign country..

Always click to find out the actual email address that sent you the email. I'm gonna guess it's phishing or a scam. Still though I always click to get the real email address.

I guess my question is what other steps should I take? My credit cards look good. No weird charges. I just checked my credit reports and they look fine. I put a fraud warning on it. Anything else?
