I'm wondering if there are any Elitist owners out there who could help me out quickly. Basically I have a 2004 Elisist and I swapped round the plastics. The, Gibson, pickup rings I originally got fitted perfectly but were flat backed, and I needed rounded/curved back rings. So I got some curved backed ones.. but they didn't fit my LP. I'm separated from my LP now by a few thousand miles at the moment but wanted to pick up some curved backed rings.

Soooo... my question is.... can any Elitist owners out there do me a huge favour and measure the distance between the screw holes? I'm wondering if they match up with the ones in the link below.

Thanks a lot in advance!! :thumb:

Can't help but to be honest you should've left the guitar "as is" except for caps and maybe PUs. I bought two (new) and the only thing other than wood species that wasn't a good knock off was the finish. You cannot increase the value of these no matter what you do but they are great MIJ copies and spending money on replica plastics won't change anything tangible.

Distance is 3.25" - 1.5" on my Elitist.

Good luck.

Hey Ken, I wasn't trying to increase its value, just experimenting with aesthetics. It's just so usual to have the cream and I really liked the look of the Joe Bonamassa GT, so thought I'd se what it looked like. I still have the original plastics so if I were to sell it, or just got bored of the black, I'd just swap them back... not doing anything irreversible. I'm afraid it's just in my nature to mess around with things like that. :thumb:

Actually... sorry to hassle you again but do you know the distance between the screw holes (in millimeters)?

Sorry Tollan, I read the post but didn't note it was you!:thumb:
The black plastics would've looked great on the GT but I'm not sure about the Plus Top. The Elitist series seems to have mixed their measurements systems (some stuff metric, some imperial). I also already changed the caps in the Plus from the standard ceramic to poly types.
A suggestion here, when you get back, Canadian Tire sells a digital caliper for about $30. These come in real handy for many tasks and are switchable between metric and imperial.

Hey Ken, Thanks for the tip! I think I may invest in a set when I get back then (hopefully by September, but we'll see). I checked out the guts and saw that you'd changed the caps... nice touch :thumb:

Anyway... here's a photo of the axe with the black plastics. A matter fo taste I guess, but I quite like the result. What do you think?

Not off hand but the measurements I gave you were between the holes.
