Who has time to talk politics when there's all that government weed to smoke?
There'll be such a smoke haze over our country that we'll be lucky to even notice the world is still going on around us.

I'm all for the "no politics or religion" stand point.
It's hard enough to have a civil face to face conversation about such topics, I can totally see how doing it over the Internet would just intensify and escalate it.
Somebody would voice an opinion and a mob would jump all over them, which would result in an entirely different mob coming to their defense.
Next thing you know, the entire membership is at war and half of them don't even really know why.
It would be a definite downfall to hanging out here.

I don't see the point. This election, even more than most elections and it's true for all of them, was in South Park's terms a choice between a giant douche and a turd sandwich. Ultimately there's no reason to get all upset over which lying corrupt pandering demagogic whore wins any election: no matter what, we always wind up with a f*cking politician.

would be aware of our reaction and could go back to the thread to see if any interaction/discussion emerged from her/his post.

I love politics and history and many time they intermingle. Unfortunately a vast majority of people can't discuss the topic without losing their **** and taking everything personally. Unfortunately, its a lot of what we see thats wrong with the world. Not being able to discuss, only yell and bitch and hope they can get their way. I can totally get why it wouldn't be allowed on a forum about guitars.

1. Dont do it here
2. PLEASE, do it lawfully and with some semblance of grace. For the first time in a LONG time last night I was genuinely frightened by protestors. I had to cross a street and there are THOUSANDS of you and y'all are NOT happy. I get it. I support it. Just please remain peaceful or lawful because this is beyond police departments level of capabilities. No one is going to like the national guard fixing this. It wont be pretty.
