Had a tweaker combo years ago that was replaced 3 times under warranty and the 3rd one i got rid of as soon as it arrived.

Have they gotten any better? Looking for a small 2 channel combo that will give me separate eq on each channel and the rebel has some nice features. I liked the tones I was getting from the tweaker but was just horrible quality

I'll be curious to see what others say; I'm always interested in this topic.

Mine was from about 10 or 12 years ago and it was a horrible experience. Heard different things at the time but after two had transformer issues and tube sockets issue I cut my losses and moved on.

Wondering if the more recent ones are improved. They do have some cool features

Your experience pretty much mirrored mine from the same time period. Edit: I had the Rebel 30 combo--great amp on paper, but the build quality was lacking. When it worked it was fun but I sold mine after about 6 months of ownership and two failures at gigs. I can't afford that headache.

I'd also be curious to know if the quality has improved over the last decade.

Don't sleep on a Mesa Boogie Express 5:25 1 X 10. I love mine and it has EQ on both channels. Very small form-factor because of the 10" speaker but it is a monster for power (switchable).

I did upgrade mine to an Alnico Gold 10" and it just sings now.

Definitely in my interest, a few others out there half the price and I'm a laid off out of work new Dad.

The transformer problems were pretty well documented and fixed. I had a Renegade head for several years and never had a problem with it. I couldn't hardly get a bad tone out of that amp. I keep thinking about getting a Rebel 30 Mark II. I don't really need it, but it seems like a really versatile amp.

I know Bruce personally, and he designs great stuff. Quality issues are due to the point of manufacture (china), not his fault. Buy American!

OP: Shameless plug here - I have a two channel Made in USA Mesa Boogie combo in the Classifieds:

I've had a tweaker for several years now that I use as a practice amp. Have hauled it back and forth a lot and have not had any problems with it. I also bought it used...

I had a trouble-free Tweeker head for about two years. I thought it was great, but I like to try new stuff, so I moved it on.

I used it at home only, as I am a bass player by trade, and only gig with my bass gear...

I have a five year old Rebel 20, no problems at all. Not much headroom, as a result it spent a number of rehearsals wide open until I got 40 watts to play with
