Last night I bought the new Van Halen disc expecting it to be terrible, but many here said it was good, but after hearing Tattoo, I figured they were now, a Vegas lounge act, at best-

I went for a drive today and decided this is how I would listen to the disc for the first time--The way rock and roll was intended to be heard--Driving down the road, with the speakers blaring--

Anyway, I skipped right past the first track--I refuse to hear Tattoo ever again, on purpose anyway-

She's the woman and you and your blues were cool---there is some typical old Van Halen weird sort of odd crap---But all in all, this thing rocks---

First thing I noticed was the mix sounded a little flat and lifeless--I then noticed one of my kids had tweaked the EQ on my stereo and it was not set how I normally run it--I bumped the pre sets to "Loud:MID" and the mix jumped up in my face--

The drums were booming--The bass could be heard, as I am sure Ed allows his new bass player to actually be in the mix--

Eddie's playing has a fire that has been lost since before 1984---His tone is great, he has some new licks, he uses the wah very tastefully and cool-ly

But I am going to make a Proclamation -- The song "Outta Space" is as good a song as the original lineup has ever recorded--I am not bullshitting---

So what if I thought MA's vocals were missing, which they were--it's good-

Popping the mids helped the backing vocals a lot---

This disc is good---:dude:

Is his son still the bass player, or did they use a session guy for the studio tracks?

I haven't read the liner notes But i heard Wolfie played in the studio--

There is some cool bass work---How would we ever know how good MA was--He was rarely ever heard in the mix back in the day--

I am serious--if you only like "Outta Space" it's worth the 11 bucks---:dude:

Hey, I thought cd's that only had one good song were a rip-off and that kicked off the angry pirates and all the downloading?

/sarcasm.

Glad you're digging your new cd. New music that gets your blood pumping is priceless.

Oh--At Wal-Hell they had a disc with a VH T shirt for 19 bucks--That's the one I bought as I actually found one marked XL---

So, I got a VH t shirt with the cheesy pic from the album cover--and the new disc---

19 bucks---Not bad---I like as many or more songs on this disc as any other VH disc the first time around---

Hell, I have never had a VH disc other than 1 that I liked more than 5 songs or so anyway---

Eddie's tone is different--But not bad--Its slightly more modern--a little more guts, if that's possible--I like it---it adds flavor to his new licks and new aggressiveness. Like I said--there is a fire to his playing that hasn't been heard in the studio in a very long time----

Very cool! I've been thinking about picking this up. I like old school Van Halen, when he had that really bluesy feel to his stuff, even when doing the tapping stuff.

Tracks 3, 5, 7, and 11 stand out as ones I like too.

I have been driving all over town tonight and had this disc in. The more I listen, the more I like it---

It is good and there is some great guitar work on it--Some killer drums as well---

Dave sounds good on most of this stuff--I would be interested to see how Dave pulls it off live, as there seems to be some stuff that may challenge him a bit in person--

Eddie could be the second coming of Christ, but he will not get a single dime until I get a personal apology for the Van Halen III album and tour.

The more I listen, the more I like it. We're going to see them next Wednesday at Conseco (well, it used to be Conseco). :thumb:

I thought about it, since the disc is good and there are still tickets available--

But--it's not a a convenient day--

And good seats are a buck sixty five each:shock:

The day definitely sucks but it is what it is so we figured what the heck. We're front row, section 5. Pretty decent seats! I'm really looking forward to it. :D
