If it was an early 60's in good condition it would be worth every dollar and more.
I had one lent to me for two weeks at long time ago and I still think about it form time to time.
But...

The pot we can clearly see is a '96. 1379607
The other ones seem older though. Ask him for better pot pics and numbers.

Obviously he took the pickguard off... not a good move.
The refin looks like semi-gloss or something. Poly?

Hardware changed. Pups changed.
Would he have the original parts?

Then there's the issue of the piece of wood near the controls...

It looks like a nice guitar at first but it has many issues to deal with at some great costs to make it "real".

Looks like a '65. No such thing as a Les Paul SG Special. Silly to put the silkscreen on there.

For what it's worth....I got an email back from the owner. The guitar has a 1 11/16" nut and a rounded neck. It might be a '64 or an early '65 built to '64 specs. I've got a few more questions into him. Will get back if/when he gets back to me.
