I was playing an LP Standard in a local shop the other day and the clerk and I thought it was a 2011, it had the obnoxious plug lock and no coil splitting but when we looked at the back of the headstock, it said "2012".
I checked the serial number on the website and it said it was made in February of 2012.
Has anyone encountered one of these?
It played pretty well, I liked it and the guy was offering it for around 2.2k but it had some blemishes where the neck and headstock meet, almost like it was damaged from being hanged on a bad guitar rack. These blemishes seemed to be covered by an after-finish epoxy or stain. He had another LP that had the finish missing and a chunk of bare wood showing on the exact same spot... maybe it's their store *shrug*
Anyways, bonding with an LP is a good thing and what I believe is the most important... but the blemishes, 2011 specs on a 2012 and the muddy burstbucker pro in the neck have me thinking of maybe not biting.
It was pretty despite the barely noticeable blemishes... but you know when you slap down 2k on a guitar you want it t be -perfect-.
