It seems kinda odd that a guitar of this significance wasn't promoted and perhaps listed with a premier auction company like sotheby's or christies. The guitar seems obscurely listed amongst a bunch of crap from that auction house.
For comparison, would you prefer this guitar or Gilmore's black stratocaster that was recently auctioned and brought just under 4 million. His white one sold for 1.8 million. A Martin D-35 sold for 1.1 million. 1955 Goldtop 450K.
The Allman gold top at 1 Million seems like a steal.
I’ve never paid much attention to how these auctions are done, but I am surprised that there isn’t any action yet. I was hoping for a little entertainment. I suppose the game is to wait in order to keep the price as close as possible to the $1 million mark.
