I do understand why some bands tune down half a step or a whole to match the singers range and all that, i would have done the same :)
but what i ment was, some downtune their guitars just crazy low, becouse of "its heaaaavyyy maaan!" i see no sense in that haha
But some songs are indeed much better when they are downtuned and abit more "low" so to speak :)

but those "its heaaaaabyyy man!" guys, tends to be youngs boys who tends to play 400bpm and with so much distortion i cant hear what notes they are playing :laugh2: they could just buy a 7, 8 or 9 string guitar to do just the same, but then again, they would most likely downtune those too, just to speak with the whales y'know :)

(Beeing VERY steriotypical here)

i hope you know what i mean here.

Don't lump me into that steriotype! Haha! I'm in my mid 30's and love Stoner Rock. I'm rocking out at 80-110 BPM :laugh2:

Not particularly. It's pretty low, but some of the guys that he's talking about will buy 7-string guitars, then drop them to f#... LOW f#... or even LOWER...

That's what I was thinking. C# is still pretty comfortable with 10s, no real need for heavier strings.

Mostly D Std, but a few Drop C. Skillet and Black Label Society and a couple Drop C in Rocksmith ... seems there is another. The Crue is all D Std.

Got an Epi LP setup with EMGs and 11-70 strings for D Std, easy to go to Drop C. Man that thing is deep sounding (through the game's emulated amps, speakers, and effects :laugh2: ... they actually sound damn good. :dude: ).

Check this kid out. In his other videos (and even a little bit in this one), he's quite obnoxious, but he's just taking the piss. Shredder chops for miles, though, and this will give you an idea of how lowwww it can gooo...

(His Super Mario djent video is also pretty cool, and funny as well)

Yeah his obnoxiousness gets pretty grating, especially in his pedals video. I couldn't watch that whole thing. This one, though, cracks me up:

If there was a contest for being the most annoying **** on YT, Steve T would be a Top5 contender for sure.

That said, I keep my Explorer in Eb, so dropping the top string puts me in Drop C#, which is fun sometimes. Tuning to D standard is also interesting, for me its the "saddest" tuning.

When I need to get real low, I take out the baritone.
Tuned BEADF#B its great for chugging, but it also sounds very nice played clean with some reverb.
Fits perfectly with a 5-string bass tuned BEADG, so no problem there.

In general I like experimenting, every tuning has its own kind of sound, which makes it interesting.

I love playing down tuned. :headbanger:

I dabbled with it once on my Washburn Jumbo acoustic. I couldn't even tell you how I played this beyond that. Not that it's technical or anything - I just can't remember what I played. Pretty basic really, just too lazy to figure it out again.

Apparently the soundcloud feature no longer works....

I had a couple auditions last month. Both times, as soon as I got there, I got the "I'm sorry, I forgot to tell you that we tune to E-flat". I thought about turning around and leaving both times.

I can't even imagine C.

Tune low, play slow.

This is the only "low and slow" I do...
