While I was doing that the best news of all... THE ELECTRONICS ARRIVED FROM ROTHSTEIN, YEEEAAAAAAHHHHH!!!! I got the Lindy Fralin Unbuckers with the smart coil-tap option. They also did solderless connections for me so all I had to do was plug the pins into the matching color sockets. If only it had turned out to be that easy.

Ok, probably getting close to overload, four posts back to back so I'll try to finish up tomorrow.

So anyway, the electronics did not quite quite match up to the holes that were in the guitar and didn't fit through them. There were little circular areas where it had been thinned out for the pots, but they weren't big enough for them to fit into. Trying to get them into and then out of the guitar I broke a couple of the connections. Now I get to learn to solder after all. So off to home depot to buy a forstner bit to enlarge the area for the pots. That was nerve racking. Just knew I'd screw up and go all the way through the top. Strung it up to play until I did that though.

After watching videos on youtube on how to solder (a couple weeks of watching) I finally gave it a try. Much easier than I thought it would be but man does the solder go fast. Did a decent enough job, everything works. Looks crowded and messy. No one will ever mistake it for a factory job by a long shot. Thought about just undoing it all and soldering directly to the pots. I like the connections though. I can undo and change them quickly this way. Which turned out to be good since the selector switch wound up backwards somehow. Just unplugged and switched the connections and it was fixed.

Look closely and you can see the white plugged into the yellow. Those go to the selector switch.

And so, closed everything up, strung it up with 9's and it is NGD at last. If playing unplugged it has a tinny sound, and plugged in it sounds a bit thin. I was wondering if putting heavier strings on it would help that any. Definitely has a sound all its own. My next project was to learn how to actually play it. My daughter has other ideas though.

Hopefully someone somewhere has avoided a mistake by seeing the stupid ones I've made. Had a lot of fun doing it though and ready to start another. My daughters on me to refinish her guitar, "pink with flowers" so I've stripped it. I thought the easiest way to do what she wants is a fabric top. I picked out fabric, got her ok and bought it. Could be interesting. Who knew an 11 y.o. girl could be that picky.

Looking on Ebay and Craigs list for a cheap Studio to do as well.

Oh God, it's a sickness.
