I don't like that article. It implies that Guitardater is there to "authenticate" your guitar. Not true. It is there to tell you when your guitar was built based on the serial number. Clearly, someone can put a "good" serial number on a fake guitar. That is a no brainer. The site is very helpful if used properly.

It says it is unreliable to authenticate a guitar. Well no shit! The dating function is the only scope of the site - not to tell you whether or not a guitar is legit. And, for that function that it is intended to serve, it does a hell of a good job.

People have been placing too much stock in guitardater - and the article IS useful, although it doesn't give any credit to the otherwise very helpful website.
