Got my Bulldog kit just before Xmas and this is it when I received it. It's a solid flame top and one piece neck. I'm pretty happy with it, just a few things that could have been better. The top center join is a fraction off center. (See Photos) The neck is straight and not slightly concave when strings are on and in tune. I'm using 9's so I'll have to go with a heavier gauge to give it the relief I need. The flame and grain are quite nice nothing spectacular. The back is two piece.
Here's a few pics....

Nice Kit HCB!

Just a quick question. Why do you want to change the relief with heavier strings? Why not just adjust the truss rod?

I've got all the hardware for it. Gotoh Vintage locking tuners bridge and aluminum stoptail. GFS 59's for the pickups. I've put on a headstock overlay and shaped the head, glued the neck in with Titebond and installed bridge and tail piece. This is where I'm up to at the moment.

more pics to come after after grain fill and sealer.....not sure what colour yet.

Thanks,
I've loosened the truss as far as it will go without the nut coming off.

Yeah, I think I need to pull the trigger on one of these. A P90 plaintop would be perfect. I can't wait to see how this one turns out.

Yeah I have been considering getting one of these myself. I just not that good at doing paint job so I might go the natural look.

Ok another update. Grain filling applied and ready for sanding...

The back is dyed a bit darker...back and front are rubbed on dye.

I just noticed the little bit of flame on the bottom right:thumb:

Top is dyed...first with a darker brown, then sanded back. Then a amber coat and then a mid brown to finish.

Scraping the binding...

First coat of brushed on sanding sealer....

and that's where I'm up to at the moment.

Awesome! It's going to end up looking a lot like my number #1 guitar, I think.

I have a soft spot for these earthly finishes. :D

I love it! How is the wood on those bulldog kits, and where can I get one?

I think mine will be a bit lighter in color, but yours is very very nice!
I like the browns more so too.

great job so far...was the neck a perfect tight fit to the body before you glued it?
