Dog Bone Bridge and Bigsby on 50s Les Paul Black Beauty/Goldtop, Like or No Like?

Any Bone lovers or haters out there?

Looking at a mid 50s Les Paul with an original Bigsby and dog bone bridge, but I've never played a guitar with a dog bone.

Anyone owned a guitar with a dog bone for a good period of time?

What do you like, or dislike about them?

- get tired of the wound G string?
- intonation?
- tuning stability?
- sustain and tone?

How much would a Black Beauty or Goldtop trade at with a dog bone - everything else being equal - worth how much less?

I see pics of Gilmour with what I understand is an aftermarket bone on his Goldtop - wonder why he went in that direction?

Usually, any mod to a guitar, especially mid-50's would bring the value down.
