Are you talking about the weight?

Seems overly heavy for an R9 & the Year is obviously wrong, it states 1959 but it is a 2009 (going by the Serial No. on the back of the HS).

:cheers2:

No, that guitar does not look right. From the pictures, does not appear to have any Murphy razor blade checking. Aging looks more like playing wear. No headstock face checking which is a dead giveaway. Murphy doesn’t do buckle rash unless it’s a CC guitar that’s he’s copying. Too many red flags on that one.

After looking at the pictures in more detail, I don't think this guitar is even a Custom Shop reissue from any year. Headstock "Gibson" logo is wrong, back color of guitar is wrong, not a 2009 with the mother of pearl fingerboard inlays, and not a 1999 either so maybe a re-applied serial number, '80's looking wide fret wire, brown case is from the '80's so possibly some kind of '80's reissue.

The main "aged" thing there is the case!
Maybe Murphy Durphy did that.
But not "The" "Murphy".

You're not wrong Mark, I just looked at them on my PC for more detail.............ouch!

I wonder if the store knows what they are actually selling.

Cheers, Rudi

There is no case candy or documentation included but one quick phone call to Gibson verified that this is indeed in their records as genuine.

:hmm:

Could have at least wiped the 2 inches of dust off the headstock no

Right and I can put a bogus serial number on any guitar also.

You might want to contact the seller and break the bad news to them. Looks like they have good reviews so I doubt (hope) they aren’t trying to fool someone. It definitely doesn’t pass the sniff test.

The Les Paul logo also looks to be in the wrong spot.

If the shop selling it is an honest shop, they may have gotten taken by a con man.
