If that turns out to be the case and you've got the money spare, if it was me id chuck him an extra hundred or two on top - considering - I wouldn't in a store but I would for a fellow player.

lets see, assumption is being made that the guitar in the picture really is the guitar that is for sale..

it appears to be factory mint new, it even still has the control know labels on it - very rare for a mid-late 90's guitar.

the price is way wrong for a 14 year old guitar in near pristine mint condition.. if it isn't a stolen guitar then I'm leaning towards one of those Chinese "Tang" fakes that sell for $250 for which this seller thinks he can get away with the big markup..

What is going on with those contol knobs? They appear to have a piece of plastic attached with text on. Why would this be, on a used Guitar? I haven't seen this on a new guitar, either, so I would be very suspicous....

If it was for real, the guitar would be sold by now and the listing would be gone.

It's a kid trying to cause a frenzy, like the, "I just cleared out my fathers attic and he has a 1959 Les Paul I'd like to sell for $500.00. Or he is trying to collect email addresses for sending out spam.

They were the instructions for the various push / pull combo's....

I emailed yesterday, told him I had cash and wanted to pick up the guitar. Never heard back.

Guitar on the picture looks real. But its probably a scam one way or another. Anyone smart enough to make an craigslist ad is also smart enough to use google to determine the value of said guitar.

True but they took the trouble to post the specs. Why would anyone do THAT? It's as if the seller doesn't know guitars and feels the need to tell everyone the specs.

Knew it. It's a SCAM!!! Here's the email I just got in reply:

Hi,
Thanks for being interested in buying my 1997 Gibson Jimmy Page Signature Les Paul , I will start my email by telling you that I'm currently out of country so pick up isn't an option. The item is as described, in perfect condition and will be delivered at your home address. Total price will be $1000 and the transaction will be made only through eBay because because they will handle with all that it has to be done, the shipping, payment and passing the item in to your property. Right now I'm in Italy, just arrived here 3 days ago. Before I left I found a buyer and I had everything arranged. I paid for the shipping and almost sent it to him. But yesterday the buyer that I had asked me to wait another 4 weeks because he suddenly had other priorities and he is out of money for the moment. I can't wait this long as I'm in Italy for 3 days now and i really need the money, I am in the moving process, changing the work place and everything. A major issue is that if you want to buy my item you really need to have the money ready for it.
This purchase protection guarantees that the item is exactly as I described; basically, once delivered, you'll have 10 working days to inspect it at your home and if you decide not to keep it you will get refunded in no time and they will charge me with the return costs. If the item meets your expectations and you want to keep it you will have to tell them to release the payment to me. If you are interested in this purchase please reply me with your full name and shipping address. After that i will pass your details to eBay and you will receive an invoice and further instructions as how will you be able to get possession of the item .
Let me know your thoughts .

Warmest regards
