Since I can't play my brand new guitar yet (christmas present) I have just been staring at some pictures of it I took and I have noticed something that looks weird to me. The word Les Paul seems to be really close to the truss rod cover.

From every picture I have seen of other Les Paul Standards, the word is farther away from it.

Everything else about the guitar seems to be legit, here is the back of the headstock (the serial number checks out fine)

And inside the control cavity, the pots are marked Gibson

And an overall photo of the body

Maybe I am just being paranoid with all the threads about fake gibson's out there.

Anyone seen a headstock like this before?

Thanks

It's fine, bro! All the USA Pauls have the script really low on the headstock. Only the Historics have them in the right place...

Maybe the logo guy had one too many drinks that day?
The guitar's real...do doubt.
Yours does seem a bit low, though. Here's a pic of my old Standard.

You are being paranoid and suffering from not being able to use your new toy

Hello

It´s looks exactly like my Gibson Les Paul Standard Faded with 50s neck except the back of your head, mine doesnt have the year on it.
It only has the serial number and Made in USA.

Gibson started putting the current year 2008 under the serial # starting this year.

Not only is your Gibson 'Real' you're pictures look amazing!

Lots of detail, very crisp & well lit.

Do you play guitar as well as you take pictures?

What type of camera are you using & @ what settings?

I thought the pictures looked a little too professional for them not to be.

Nice work!

those were taken with a Canon 40D with 17-55 F2.8 IS lens. 580EX flash bounced off the ceiling. I think I took them at about 1/60th, F4.5 ISO 800.

first thing to do after you play it for a few hours is to decide on a better set of caps to go in that thing!
