Now his covers are, in my mind, absolutely amazing, his speed and precision is nearly unmatched compared to others on Youtube. BUT...it does kind of annoy me how he owns an Epi (I think, evidence follows), and throws it out there to people that he owns a Gibson, and now the majority of Youtube instantaneously associate him with using a Gibson.

I have a question: where on his channel does he ever "throw out there to the people that he owns a Gibson?" I don't see that sort of thing anywhere on his channel and therefore I don't see the purpose of this thread. (Sorry if that came out wrong, I think its an interesting thread but if he's not making any claims on his channel then there really is nothing to be discussed other than what makes an Epiphone LP different than a Gibson LP.)

I think he has a small weenie and is afraid to admit that he plays an epi.

His video tags, most if not all, contain 'Gibson' in them, this allows people to perceive that he is using a Gibson, I've seen a few comments under the videos that say something along the lines of 'his videos tags say Gibson! nothing mentions Epi! therefore he is 100% using Gibson!'

But anyways, I originally intended to throw this out as a discussion topic, if people don't like it, may as well just let the thread die

I think it's a valid discussion. It has validity in that it weight the gibby vs epi image situation.... aka can / does a pro (or talented player) use an epi / copy.....

Maybe its a Gibson he modded to look like an epi. lol.

Yeah I can't understand why someone would hide the fact they have an Epi; its probably the next best thing to a gibson; I'm very prowd of my Epiphones. (cos theyr the best I've got)

Not a Gibby. Prolly an Epiphone, as my burst is identical. For some reason when they are filmed or a picture is taken it makes them look a lot redder than they actually are. Which is why i desperately tried to fade mine years ago.. which was clearly foolish lol. Im thinking his is like mine and looks much better in person. :naughty:

As for the whole claiming its a Gibson issue... I agree with terminator7, i really dont care..

Not every Gibson has this. I've seen some Gibsons without those today.

I'm sure he said that somewhere, but unfortunately I don't know where anymore.

He may simply want people to appreciate his playing rather than draw attention to what gear he uses. He probably plays an Epi and refuses to answer otherwise because he doesn't want to be thought less of a musician to anyone just because of possible lowend end gear he uses.

I don't understand why people are ashamed of the guitar they play if it's not an expensive one. Even the people who play the expensive ones cut their teeth on a cheap one. People starting to play guitar in 1960's - 80's would kill for the selection of excellent quality reasonably priced guitars we have available today. The $500 - $800 range being the sweetspot where the quality and sound for the price ratio is best. I'd say $1000 is about the point of diminishing returns, where you start paying a lot for every incremental improvement in sound. You also start paying for a lot of fancy finishing and decoration that doesn't do anything to make the guitar play or sound better. If you have a $500 or even cheaper guitar and can wail on it and coax sweet tones from a 10 watt Gorialla amp then when you do step up to a higher quality instrument you'll be smoking. Someone here has the signature that sums it up. "It's not WHAT you play, it's THAT you play!"

I guarantee that I can take any famous guitar player, e.g. Slash, Vai, Satriani, Eric Johnson, Clapton, etc. give them an Epi LP Standard or a similarly priced Fender Strat and a Roland Microcube and they will still sound like themselves and will make your jaw drop that they are making a $600 rig sound so incredible.

I've watched his videos before too and i also think it's an epi. but to be honest he's got some serious covering skills...too bad i've never seen any original music by him. If he writes music as well as he covers some of the songs and solos then he'd be quite spectacular to listen to.
