I can't stand it. Bloody packaging all over the floor and yet more space taken up with cardboard boxes, before having to make another trip to the dump to get rid of them..I'm more interested whether what's inside the box works or not..

I'm surprised so many don't care. If I buy an expensive item and it rocks up in a busted arsed box I'm pretty pissed about it. For one it affects the resale price and two it means your pedal/ guitar or whatever copped a hiding somewhere between the factory and delivery.

If I'm paying I like a pristine box.:naughty:

I must be from a different planet, a box doesn't due a thing for me. If buy a guitar, I am not buying the box, the box is just to offer protection.

If that is the case, then I am going to start listing my empty boxes on Ebay. Oh Boy! I am going to make a killing, come on!!!! Seriously?

If a box is a deal breaker for some, sorry my friends, but you have issues:laugh2:

NOM, I think most of us care that an item arrives safe and sound but the issue is some folks have some kind of fetish around the unboxing experience to the point they would film it and post it on YT – that is where it gets a little whacky for me...

Not at all.

On the other hand, I am pretty much fond of the unbottling experience when it comes to nice aged spirits. I respect bourbon and scotch bottles and always honor them by emptying them all with loads of care.

a premium product needs to come in reasonable packaging imo, if they don't pay a little attention to how it's presented in the first place, it doesn't exactly inspire confidence in the product itself

having said that, if the product itself is junk (Beats), then it doesn't matter a fvck how nice the packaging is

I'm always concerned that if I take the time to set up the video camera, she might change her mind and I might miss my chance to unwrap the box... So, if I have to chose, I prefer the memory over the potential video.

Now that I understand the thread, I will state that some products make me want to harm the people that designed the packaging.

But I do get just a little excited when I open a box of music gear, archery gear or electronic gear-- :)

The impregnable, heavy-duty, thermoformed (and heat sealed) plastic packaging pisses me off.

I buy almost everything off of Craig's List, so unboxing to me is usually going into someone's home. That can be kind of cool. When I buy something off ebay, the unboxing experience is usually nerve-wracking.

Oh, I forgot to mention that I am most enthusiastic about thatkind of unpacking just as much as I enjoy unbottling good liquor...

I'd rather have a great product in a crappy box than a crappy product in a great box.

I also have issues with all the wasted resources put in to packaging, although I realize why manufacturers do this..................the presentation & unboxing experience. Apple is extremely good at this.

:hmm:............like a packaging Orgasm. :laugh2:

So many things are packed in heavy plastic that has to be destroyed before you can get the item out that is fairly pisses me off! Firstly you can't get a good look at what you are buying before deciding, and secondly if it's faulty there is no chance of repackaging satisfactorily to return it. Things nowadays come with far too much packaging

Then there is the volumes of crap that has to be disposed of once the item is unpacked.

I personally hate unpackaging things. Bring back brown paper bags~

My wife and I are into gadgets and stuff, and she enjoys the unboxing videos. In fact, she likes unboxing things herself, and heaven forbid she's robbed of the experience. For instance, used to be that when I bought her electronics as gifts I'd open them up and plug them in so that she would have a fully charged device to play with when she opened it. MISTAKE. She appreciated the gesture, but was bummed that that the magic barrier had been breached.

I don't get it. I just want the stuff.
